In this issue we learn the origin of the Silk Spectre against the backdrop of a debate between her and Dr. Manhattan. They talk about wether life on Earth is worth saving. Through this discusion we get to see the progression of a young girl whose Mother was afraid of aging so tried to make her daughter just like her in order to live a second youth through her.

We also get as much of what happened with the original Silk Spectre, and her involvment with the Comedian. Giving us even more insight into the identity of Laurie Jupiter. This final bit of information makes Dr. Manhattan come to grips with the miracle of each individual life.
